Your privacy matters to us — not as a legal formality, but as a matter of respect. This policy explains, in plain language, what information passes through Oddsense when you visit, why, and what control you have over it.
Oddsense (https://oddsense.net) is operated by Grey Street Avenue Limited, a company registered in Ghana. We are a digital-first publication with no physical storefront, and our readers come from all over the world. Wherever you’re reading from, we aim to treat your data with the same care we’d want for our own.
The short version
Right now, Oddsense is a publishing platform. We share sports insights, analysis, and data tables — you read them. We don’t ask you to create an account, we don’t process payments, and we don’t take wagers. That means we collect very little about you:
- Basic, largely anonymous analytics about how the site is used
- Your email address, only if you choose to request an on-demand asset (like a PDF or CSV) from us
- Whatever you choose to share if you leave a comment or write to us
That’s essentially it. The rest of this policy spells out the details.
What we collect and why
Information you choose to give us
Asset requests. If you request a downloadable asset from the site — such as a PDF report or CSV data file — we’ll ask for your email address so we can send it to you. We use that email to fulfil your request and, occasionally, to follow up about the asset itself. We won’t add you to a marketing list without asking you first.
Comments. If commenting is available and you leave one, we collect the data shown in the comment form (your name, email address, and optional website), along with your IP address and browser user agent string. The IP and browser details exist for one reason: spam detection. An anonymised string created from your email address (called a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you have a profile picture there. Gravatar’s privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture (if any) is visible to the public alongside your comment.
Correspondence. If you email us, we keep the exchange so we can respond properly and remember the context if you write again.
Information collected automatically
Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used — which pages people visit, how long they stay, and how they found us. This helps us make Oddsense better. Analytics data is aggregated and doesn’t tell us who you are as an individual. You can opt out of Google Analytics entirely using Google’s browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, and you can read Google’s privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Security and performance services. Our site sits behind Cloudflare, a content delivery and security network, which processes visitor IP addresses to protect the site from attacks and load pages faster. We also use LiteSpeed Cache to speed up the site; caching stores temporary duplicate copies of web pages, and we may use QUIC.cloud services to process and cache data temporarily. Cache files are temporary and are not accessed by third parties except as necessary for technical support from the plugin vendor. Server logs. Like almost every website, our hosting infrastructure keeps standard technical logs (IP addresses, timestamps, requested pages) for security and troubleshooting.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored in your browser. Ours are modest:
- Comment cookies. If you leave a comment, you may opt in to saving your name, email, and website in cookies so you don’t have to retype them next time. These last one year.
- Login cookies. These only apply to our own team members who log in to manage the site. Login cookies last two days (or two weeks with “Remember Me”) and screen option cookies last a year.
- Performance cookies. LiteSpeed Cache may set cookies to serve you the right cached version of a page. These contain no personal data.
- Analytics cookies. Google Analytics sets cookies to distinguish visits. See the analytics section above for how to opt out.
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. The site will still work if you do.
Embedded content
Articles on this site may include embedded content — videos, social posts, images from other websites. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited that other website directly: those sites may collect data about you, use their own cookies, and track your interaction with the embedded content, especially if you’re logged in to an account with them.
Who we share your data with
We don’t sell your personal data. Full stop. We share it only with the services that keep this site running:
- Hostinger — our hosting provider (server infrastructure)
- Cloudflare — content delivery and security
- Google — analytics
- QUIC.cloud / LiteSpeed — page caching and optimisation
- Automattic (Gravatar) — comment profile pictures, as described above
- An automated spam detection service may check visitor comments
Each of these providers has their own privacy commitments, and we’ve linked to them where relevant. Beyond that, we would only disclose personal data if required by law, a court order, or a competent authority — and if that ever happens, we’ll disclose only what is legally required.
If you request a password reset (team accounts only), your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How long we keep your data
- Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely, so we can recognise and approve follow-up comments automatically rather than holding them in a moderation queue.
- Asset-request emails are kept for as long as needed to fulfil your request and handle any follow-up — typically no more than twelve months — unless you’ve asked to hear from us on an ongoing basis.
- Analytics data is retained according to the settings in our Google Analytics account and Google’s own retention policies.
- Server and security logs are rotated automatically on a short schedule.
Where your data goes
Grey Street Avenue Limited is a Ghanaian company, but the services we rely on — hosting, CDN, analytics — operate globally, so data may be processed on servers outside Ghana and outside your own country. Where data belonging to EU/EEA residents is transferred internationally, our providers rely on recognised safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses. We choose established providers with published privacy commitments precisely because our audience crosses borders.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — including under Ghana’s Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) and the EU’s GDPR — you have rights over your personal data, including the right to:
- Access — ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction — ask us to fix inaccurate data
- Erasure — ask us to delete your personal data, including comments you’ve left, where we’re not legally required to keep it
- Objection — object to certain processing, including any marketing communication
To exercise any of these rights, just email us at hello@oddsense.net. You don’t need a formal letter or legal language — a simple request is enough, and we’ll respond as quickly as we reasonably can, within any legally required timeframe.
Children’s privacy
Oddsense publishes betting-related insights and is intended strictly for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly.
How we protect your data
We keep our data footprint deliberately small — the best way to protect data is to not collect more than you need. What we do hold is protected by encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), access controls limiting who on our team can see what, and reputable, actively maintained infrastructure. We’ll be honest with you, though: no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we won’t pretend otherwise. If a data breach ever affects your personal information, we will investigate, contain it, and notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
As Oddsense grows
Today, Oddsense is a content platform. In the future, we plan to introduce features like user accounts, web and mobile applications, and more interactive tools. When that happens, the way we handle data will change — and we will update this policy before those features launch, not after. Significant changes will be flagged clearly on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
